🇵🇹 Antes de mais, há que dizer que temos muita sorte em Portugal por contar com uma editora como “A Seita”, capaz de trazer até nós grandes obras italianas que, de outra forma, poderiam nunca chegar ao público português.

Já tive oportunidade de ler grandes histórias de Dylan Dog no passado e, quando pensava que dificilmente encontraria uma que conseguisse superar algumas das minhas favoritas, eis que surge “Morte em 16 por 9”. Se não se tornar na minha favorita, estará certamente no meu top.

Há algo de mágico em ler uma obra a preto e branco em que todos os painéis assumem o formato 16 por 9, evocando imediatamente um ecrã de cinema. E, com a extraordinária qualidade das ilustrações de Corrado Roi, o resultado é simplesmente magnífico.

Depois temos uma história verdadeiramente sobrenatural. Apesar de o sobrenatural ser, naturalmente, uma das principais características de Dylan Dog, nem sempre existe um foco tão intenso nesse aspecto. Aqui, porém, o sobrenatural está no centro de tudo, e funciona na perfeição.

Gostei de tudo nesta obra. É, sem dúvida, uma das melhores histórias de Dylan Dog que chegaram a Portugal, apresentada numa edição lindíssima e praticamente indispensável para todos os fãs de Dylan Dog e da BD italiana (fumetti). Ao mesmo tempo, é também uma excelente porta de entrada para novos leitores que queiram descobrir este fascinante mundo sobrenatural do Detective dos Pesadelos.

I’ve had the chance to read some great Dylan Dog stories in the past, and just when I thought it would be difficult to find one that could surpass some of my favourites, along comes “Death in 16 by 9”. If it doesn’t become my favourite, it will certainly rank among my top picks.

There’s something magical about reading a black-and-white book in which every panel adopts a 16:9 aspect ratio, immediately evoking the screen of a cinema. Combined with the extraordinary quality of Corrado Roi’s artwork, the result is simply magnificent.

Then there’s the story itself: genuinely supernatural. Although the supernatural is, of course, one of the defining elements of Dylan Dog, the stories don’t always place such a strong emphasis on it. Here, however, the supernatural is at the very heart of the narrative, and it works perfectly.

I loved everything about this book. It is undoubtedly one of the best Dylan Dog stories to have been published in Portugal, presented in a beautiful edition that is practically essential for fans of Dylan Dog and Italian comics (fumetti). At the same time, it also serves as an excellent entry point for new readers who want to discover the fascinating supernatural world of the Detective of Nightmares.
