💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Termino esta leitura com sentimentos algo divididos.

Por um lado, adorei as críticas às religiões e a forma como é exposta a hipocrisia na maneira de pensar dos seus seguidores. Por outro, a certa altura comecei a achar algumas situações demasiado absurdas, o que acabou por fazer com que perdessem um pouco da piada.

Gostei bastante do Gato do Rabino, claramente a melhor personagem e aquela que dá nome ao título da série.

Provavelmente também não ajudou o facto de este ser o primeiro volume da série que leio. A história pareceu-me suficientemente fechada para funcionar de forma independente, mas acredito que não conhecer as personagens e o seu percurso anterior tenha tido algum impacto na minha experiência.

A escolha da fonte também é bastante questionável. Imagino que seja utilizada ao longo de toda a série, mas confesso que não fiquei fã.

Apesar de tudo, foi uma leitura interessante, com alguns momentos bastante divertidos. Fica muito perto das 4 estrelas, mas acaba por não chegar lá.

🇬🇧 I finished this book with rather mixed feelings.

On the one hand, I really enjoyed its criticism of religion and the way it exposes the hypocrisy in the way its followers think. On the other hand, at a certain point, I started finding some of the situations a little too absurd, which took away some of the humour.

I really liked the Rabbi’s Cat, clearly the best character and the one who gives the series its title.

It probably didn’t help that this was the first volume in the series that I’ve read. The story felt self-contained enough to work on its own, but I imagine that not knowing these characters or their previous development had some impact on my experience.

The choice of font is also rather questionable. I assume it’s used throughout the entire series, but I’m afraid I wasn’t a fan.

Despite that, it was an interesting read with some genuinely funny moments. It came very close to a 4-star rating, but ultimately didn’t quite get there.
