🇵🇹 Sidney Gusman traz-nos aqui uma bonita carta de amor à família, mas sobretudo ao seu pai.

Ao longo destas páginas, Sidney partilha inúmeros episódios da sua infância e juventude, revisitando momentos vividos com a família e, em especial, com o pai. Há memórias felizes e outras mais difíceis, mas todas carregadas de uma forte carga emocional.

Esta obra acaba também por despertar as nossas próprias recordações familiares, porque todos guardamos memórias nostálgicas de um tempo em que a vida parecia mais simples e o mundo um pouco mais leve.

As relações entre pais e filhos são determinantes na formação daquilo que somos, especialmente a relação entre um pai e o seu filho. O meu pai ensinou-me muito em silêncio, apenas sendo quem é. Isso bastou para me transmitir os valores que ainda hoje levo comigo.

O desfecho, como já se antecipa ao longo da leitura, é o momento mais emotivo da obra. Ainda assim, é também aquele que deixa a mensagem mais reconfortante e esperançosa. No fim, tudo acaba, mas ninguém nos pode tirar os momentos de felicidade que vivemos. E, se é verdade que os momentos de dor são difíceis de suportar, a vida também me ensinou que são muitas vezes esses mesmos momentos que ampliam a nossa capacidade de amar e de valorizar as coisas mais simples da vida.

The relationship between parents and children plays a defining role in shaping who we become, especially the bond between a father and his son. My father taught me so much in silence, simply by being who he is. That alone was enough to pass on the values I still carry with me today.

As expected, the ending is the most emotional moment of the book. At the same time, it is also the one that offers the greatest sense of hope and comfort. In the end, everything comes to an end, but no one can take away the moments of happiness we have lived. And while painful moments are never easy to endure, life has also taught me that they are often the very experiences that deepen our capacity to love and to appreciate life’s simplest things.
