💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 É bastante impressionante pensar que, mesmo em plena Segunda Guerra Mundial, o exército americano continuava segregado racialmente, com regimentos inteiros compostos exclusivamente por soldados negros.

Nesta história acompanhamos dois protagonistas — um negro e um branco — que, apesar das diferenças e preconceitos iniciais, acabam por unir forças ao perceberem que o seu verdadeiro inimigo é a guerra e os nazis que tudo fazem para os impedir de regressar a casa. Pelo caminho, a narrativa oferece também alguns vislumbres das suas vidas para além do conflito.

Mais um volume sólido desta série que, embora raramente alcance níveis excecionais, consegue manter de forma consistente o interesse do leitor através de histórias bem construídas e envolventes.

🇬🇧 It is quite remarkable to think that, even during World War II, the U.S. Army remained racially segregated, with entire regiments made up exclusively of Black soldiers.

This story follows two protagonists—one Black and one white—who, despite their initial differences and prejudices, ultimately choose to work together when they realize that their true enemy is the war itself and the Nazis determined to keep them from returning home. Along the way, the narrative also offers glimpses into their lives beyond the battlefield.

Another solid volume in this series, which, while rarely reaching truly exceptional heights, consistently delivers engaging and worthwhile stories that make for an enjoyable read.
