🇵🇹 Já tinha esta série debaixo de olho há bastante tempo e acabei finalmente por lhe dar uma oportunidade.

A narrativa situa-se no último ano da Segunda Guerra Mundial, num momento em que a derrota nazi já se adivinha e França e Bélgica foram entretanto libertadas. É neste contexto de transição e incerteza que acompanhamos um pequeno grupo de soldados americanos, tentando compreender o mundo à sua volta e o lugar que nele ocupam.

Ao longo do percurso, acabam por se cruzar com vários habitantes locais e com um soldado desertor do exército alemão, encontros que vão moldando o tom e a direcção da história. Apesar do pano de fundo ser um conflito armado, o verdadeiro foco está nas relações humanas, nas ambiguidades morais e nos laços que se criam em tempos de guerra — e é precisamente aí que reside o potencial desta série.

Um primeiro volume sólido e promissor.

🇬🇧 I had had my eye on this series for quite some time and finally decided to pick it up.

The narrative is set in the final year of the Second World War, at a point when a Nazi defeat is already looming and France and Belgium have been liberated. It is within this atmosphere of transition and uncertainty that we follow a small group of American soldiers, trying to make sense of the world around them and of their own place in it.

Along the way, they cross paths with several local inhabitants and with a deserter from the German army, encounters that gradually shape the tone and direction of the story. Despite the wartime setting, the real focus lies on human relationships, moral ambiguities, and the bonds that form in times of conflict — and it is precisely here that the series shows its potential.

A solid and promising first volume.
