🇵🇹 Este livro retrata um dos episódios mais sombrios protagonizados pela Coreia do Sul durante a Guerra das Duas Coreias.

Imagine o que é caminhar em direção ao que sabe ser o seu fim. Que pensamentos e sentimentos o invadiriam nesse momento? Porque é que tantas pessoas não resistem no seu último instante? Será pela esperança de que, até ao último segundo, algo possa acontecer para as salvar? Ou será simples negação da realidade que as envolve?

A leitura foi interessante e permitiu-me conhecer melhor este acontecimento histórico. No entanto, senti que a obra se concentra em excesso no fuzilamento das vítimas, deixando de lado o enquadramento histórico que teria ajudado a compreender melhor as razões e o contexto por trás desta tragédia.

Imagine what it’s like to walk toward what you know will be your end. What thoughts and feelings would invade you at that moment? Why do so many people not resist in their final moments? Is it because of the hope that, until the very last second, something might happen to save them? Or is it simple denial of the reality surrounding them?

I found the reading engaging and appreciated learning about this historical event. However, I felt that the work focuses too heavily on the victims’ execution, neglecting the historical context that would have helped to better understand the reasons and background behind this tragedy.
