🇵🇹 Que viagem fantástica pelas memórias do passado este livro revelou ser!

É uma verdadeira homenagem aos icónicos livros-jogo Fighting Fantasy, de Ian Livingstone e Steve Jackson, que fizeram enorme sucesso nos anos 90. Dito isto, também segue o seu próprio caminho, com mecânicas originais e uma identidade bem distinta.

Adorei especialmente a integração inteligente de um baralho de 52 cartas para resolver combates e testes de perícia. É uma abordagem refrescante ao clássico sistema de dados — embora os dados ainda sejam usados em momentos específicos.

A escrita do Daniel é soberba. As descrições vívidas dos cenários permitem uma imersão total neste universo cinematográfico. Conseguimos praticamente visualizar o mundo à nossa volta, e a tensão mantém-nos sempre alerta.

O combate é claramente desafiante. Enquanto heróis, não temos grande vantagem. Somos apenas um contra muitos, e jogamos praticamente pelas mesmas regras dos inimigos. Mas qualquer veterano deste género sabe muito bem — a morte nunca nos detém verdadeiramente, pois não? *risos*

O meu único desejo? Mais ilustrações. Senti mesmo a falta de mais elementos visuais. Teria sido incrível abrir o livro com uma imagem impressionante da Obsidian Whale a flutuar no espaço.

Em suma, um livro-jogo extraordinário — quer para fãs experientes do formato, quer para quem está agora a descobrir o fascinante universo dos Solar Sailors.

🇬🇧 What a fantastic journey down memory lane this book turned out to be!

It pays homage to the iconic Fighting Fantasy gamebooks by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson, which were wildly popular in the ’90s. That said, it also carves its own path, with unique mechanics and a distinct vibe.

I especially loved the clever integration of a standard 52-card deck for battles and skill checks. It’s a refreshing twist on the classic dice mechanic—though dice still have their role for specific moments.

Daniel’s writing is superb. His vivid descriptions of the environments make it easy to immerse yourself in this cinematic universe. You can practically see the world around you, and the tension keeps you hooked.

Combat is definitely challenging. As heroes, we don’t have much of an upper hand. We’re just one against many, and we play by almost the same rules as the enemies. But any veteran of this genre knows—death can’t really stop us, right? *laughs*

My only real wish? More illustrations. I really missed having more visual elements. It would have been amazing to open the book with a striking view of the Obsidian Whale drifting through space.

All in all, this is a stellar gamebook—both for longtime fans of the format and for newcomers drawn to the world of the Solar Sailors.
