💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Uzumaki segue uma estrutura semelhante à de Tomie. Começa como uma coleção de capítulos vagamente ligados, centrados num único conceito — espirais — com alguns personagens e referências a reaparecerem entre os episódios. Ao contrário de Tomie, no entanto, evolui gradualmente para uma narrativa mais coesa e linear, culminando num final épico.

Não é difícil perceber porque é considerada uma das obras mais populares e bem-sucedidas de Junji Ito.

A arte é excecional, especialmente considerando que se trata de um dos seus primeiros trabalhos. Curiosamente, já se podem ver aqui muitos elementos visuais e temáticos que mais tarde apareceriam em Hellstar Remina.

Apesar da extensão, a história nunca se torna aborrecida. Mantive-me completamente envolvido do início ao fim.

Uma obra notável — provavelmente o seu melhor trabalho de longa duração.

Duvido que alguma vez volte a olhar para espirais ou caracóis da mesma forma. 😄

🇬🇧 Uzumaki follows a similar structure to Tomie. It begins as a collection of loosely connected chapters built around a single concept — spirals — with recurring characters and references linking the episodes. Unlike Tomie, however, it gradually evolves into a more cohesive and linear narrative that culminates in an epic finale.

It’s easy to see why this is considered one of Junji Ito’s most popular and successful works.

The artwork is exceptional, especially considering that this is one of his earlier projects. Interestingly, I can already see many visual and thematic elements that would later appear in Hellstar Remina.

Despite its length, the story never feels tedious. I was fully engaged from beginning to end.

An outstanding work — quite possibly his finest long-form piece.

I doubt I’ll ever look at spirals or snails the same way again. 😄
