🇵🇹 Há autores que eu sei que nunca desiludem, e Fabien Toulmé é um deles. Consegue sempre contar histórias carregadas de emotividade, que nos tocam de formas diferentes consoante a nossa própria vivência.

Aqui é-nos apresentada uma história de duas vidas, tal como o título indica. Baudouin e Luc são dois irmãos com uma boa relação, mas que seguem caminhos completamente distintos. Enquanto Luc é um espírito livre, que vive à margem das normas da sociedade e faz apenas aquilo que sente vontade de fazer, Baudouin tornou-se um verdadeiro “escravo moderno”, preso a um emprego que odeia, mas do qual depende para pagar as contas e manter uma vida estável.

Luc tenta repetidamente convencer o irmão a mudar de vida, mas sem sucesso… até ao momento em que Baudouin recebe um diagnóstico de cancro terminal. A partir daí, tudo muda. Baudouin abandona por completo a vida que levava e inicia uma jornada que acabará por levar os dois irmãos numa viagem transformadora, capaz de marcar as suas vidas para sempre.

É uma história que nos obriga realmente a refletir sobre as escolhas que fazemos e que nos relembra que estamos neste mundo apenas de passagem, sem nunca sabermos quando chegará o fim da viagem.

🇬🇧 There are authors I know will never disappoint, and Fabien Toulmé is one of them. He always manages to tell deeply emotional stories that resonate with us in different ways depending on our own life experiences.

Here, we are presented with a story of two lives, just as the title suggests. Baudouin and Luc are two brothers who share a good relationship but live completely different lives. While Luc is a free spirit who lives outside society’s conventions and does whatever he feels like doing, Baudouin has become a true “modern slave”, trapped in a job he hates but needs in order to pay the bills and maintain a stable life.

Luc repeatedly tries to convince his brother to change his life, but without success… until the day Baudouin is diagnosed with terminal cancer. From that moment on, everything changes. Baudouin completely abandons the life he used to live and begins a journey that will take both brothers on a transformative trip, one that will leave a permanent mark on their lives.

It’s a story that genuinely makes us reflect on the choices we make and reminds us that we are only passing through this world, never truly knowing when the journey will come to an end.
