🇵🇹 Adquiri este livro devido às excelentes críticas que tem recebido. Não sou particularmente fã do Godzilla, apesar de o considerar um monstro clássico bastante interessante.

Aqui, James Stokoe traz-nos uma história completamente original sobre o aparecimento do Godzilla no Japão e dois homens que, desde o início, fazem tudo para o destruir.

Acompanhamos vários acontecimentos ao longo dos anos, até ao confronto final entre esses homens e o próprio Godzilla.

Foi uma leitura interessante. Gosto bastante da arte e fiquei até curioso em explorar outras obras deste autor, mas não posso dizer que tenha sido uma obra que me tenha preenchido na totalidade. Ainda assim, achei a narrativa um pouco demasiado básica, sem grande construção de momentos de emoção ou tensão, estando mais centrada na ação. Creio que uma abordagem mais ligada ao horror poderia funcionar melhor com o rei dos monstros.

🇬🇧 I picked up this book due to the very positive reviews it has received. I’m not particularly a fan of Godzilla, although I do find him a classic and quite interesting monster.

Here, James Stokoe presents us with a completely original story about Godzilla’s appearance in Japan, and two men who, from the very beginning, do everything they can to destroy him.

We follow several events across the years, leading up to the final confrontation between those men and Godzilla himself.

It was an enjoyable read. I really like the artwork and even became interested in exploring other works by this author, but I can’t say it fully satisfied me. Overall, I found the narrative a bit too basic, without much build-up of emotional or tense moments, being more focused on action. I think a horror-oriented approach might work better with the King of Monsters.
