💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Não sabia absolutamente nada sobre Dan Da Dan antes de começar esta leitura. Apenas tinha noção de que era uma das séries mais populares da atualidade — o que, por si só, nem sempre é garantia de qualidade. Ainda assim, tenho de admitir que, das obras mais recentes que tenho experimentado, várias têm confirmado o hype.

E aqui não foi exceção. Dan Da Dan é, de facto, uma série extremamente divertida, repleta de ação e com personagens incrivelmente carismáticas.

Acompanhamos Ayase e “Oculto”, dois estudantes algo deslocados socialmente que se cruzam por acaso. Ayase acredita em espíritos, mas não em extraterrestres; já “Oculto” acredita em ETs, mas descarta completamente o sobrenatural. Decidem então desafiar as crenças um do outro, tentando provar que aquilo em que o outro não acredita existe realmente — e é precisamente daí que nasce toda a aventura.

Não encarem isto como apenas mais um Jujutsu Kaisen por lidar com espíritos — é muito mais do que isso. Senti até algumas influências de Gantz, sobretudo na sensualidade de certas personagens femininas e na escala e originalidade das criaturas que enfrentam. Ainda assim, Dan Da Dan distingue-se claramente e segue um caminho muito próprio.

Em suma, é uma série com enorme potencial. Uma excelente aposta da Devir para o mercado português — e, da minha parte, vou já avançar para o próximo volume.

🇬🇧 I knew absolutely nothing about Dan Da Dan before starting this series. I was only aware that it’s one of the most popular titles right now — which, on its own, isn’t always a guarantee of quality. Still, I have to admit that, out of the recent works I’ve been trying, several have actually lived up to the hype.

And this was no exception. Dan Da Dan is, indeed, an बेहद fun series, packed with action and featuring incredibly charismatic characters.

We follow Ayase and “Occult,” two somewhat socially awkward students who cross paths by chance. Ayase believes in spirits but not in extraterrestrials, while “Occult” believes in aliens but completely dismisses the supernatural. They decide to challenge each other’s beliefs, each trying to prove that what the other denies actually exists — and that’s exactly where the whole adventure begins.

Don’t think of this as just another Jujutsu Kaisen because it deals with spirits — it’s much more than that. I even felt some influence from Gantz, particularly in the sensuality of certain female characters and in the scale and originality of the creatures they face. That said, Dan Da Dan clearly sets itself apart and follows its own distinct path.

All in all, it’s a series with a lot of promise. An excellent pick by Devir for the Portuguese market — and I’m already jumping straight into the next volume.
