💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Devo dizer que não sou particularmente fã do uso excessivo de escrita em prosa na banda desenhada para narrar os acontecimentos de uma história. Considero-a uma ferramenta importante, mas quando é utilizada em demasia acaba por me aborrecer e quebrar a minha imersão na narrativa. Para mim, a banda desenhada deve ser sobretudo dominada por balões de diálogo, e não por extensas caixas de narrativa em prosa.

Dito isto, todas as regras têm exceções e esta obra é claramente uma delas. Apesar de a história ser fortemente dominada pela narrativa em prosa — diria que cerca de 90% é contada dessa forma — a verdade é que, no final, resulta. Resulta mesmo.

Tom King tem uma escrita muito sólida. É um excelente contador de histórias e apresenta aqui uma narrativa verdadeiramente marcante da Supergirl. Importa ainda referir que esta é a história que servirá de base para o próximo filme da Supergirl, com estreia prevista para 2026.

A acompanhá-lo está Bilquis Evely, uma ilustradora igualmente talentosa, com quem também formou dupla em “Helen of Wyndhorn”.

Uma obra realmente muito boa e essencial para os fãs desta heroína.

🇬🇧 I must say that I am not particularly fond of the excessive use of prose writing in comics to narrate the events of a story. I consider it an important tool, but when it is overused it ends up boring me and breaking my immersion in the narrative. For me, comics are meant to be dominated by dialogue balloons, not by extensive prose narration boxes.

That said, all rules have their exceptions, and this work is clearly one of them. Despite the story being heavily dominated by prose narration — I would say around 90% is told this way — the truth is that, in the end, it works. It really does.

Tom King has a very strong writing style. He is an excellent storyteller and delivers here a truly remarkable Supergirl story. It is also worth noting that this is the story that will serve as the basis for the next Supergirl film, scheduled for release in 2026.

Alongside him is Bilquis Evely, an equally talented illustrator, with whom he also collaborated with on “Helen of Wyndhorn”.

A genuinely very good work and an essential read for fans of this heroine.
