💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Abordei a leitura desta série da forma errada, e deixo desde já esse aviso para quem a vier a ler no futuro.

As expectativas são determinantes, porque muitas vezes é isso que define o quanto gostamos — ou não — de uma obra. Quando esperamos algo que depois não se concretiza, a desilusão é quase inevitável, e creio que esse tem sido o meu principal problema com esta série.

Fiquei demasiado fascinado pelo lado mais sci-fi da narrativa — o apagão tecnológico, a hipótese de uma invasão alienígena, o mistério por resolver — e acabei por me fixar excessivamente nessa vertente. Quando, na realidade, esse não é o verdadeiro centro da história: trata-se apenas do gatilho para uma trama que é sobretudo sobre relações humanas e jogos de poder entre nações.

A esta altura, torna-se claro que dificilmente teremos uma explicação para a origem do apagão, precisamente porque esse não é o foco da obra. O interesse está em observar como diferentes países e indivíduos reagem ao fim da era digital e à ausência de tecnologia após décadas de dependência quase absoluta.

Talvez tivesse desfrutado mais desta leitura se tivesse percebido isto mais cedo. Veremos o que nos reserva o próximo volume.

🇬🇧 I approached this series in the wrong way, and I want to leave that warning here for anyone who may read it in the future.

Expectations are crucial, because they often determine how much we like — or dislike — a work. When we wait for something that never quite materialises, disappointment is almost inevitable, and I believe that has been my main issue with this series.

I became too fascinated by the more sci-fi aspects of the story — the technological blackout, the possibility of an alien invasion, the unresolved mystery — and ended up focusing excessively on that side of it. When, in reality, that is not the true core of the narrative: it is merely the trigger for a story that is fundamentally about human relationships and power struggles between nations.

At this point, it is clear that we are unlikely to get an explanation for the origins of the blackout, precisely because that is not the focus of the work. The real interest lies in observing how different countries and individuals behave in the face of the end of the digital age and the absence of technology after decades of near-total dependence.

Perhaps I would have enjoyed this reading more had I realised this earlier. We shall see what the next volume has in store.
