💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Fabien Toulmé nunca desilude e mantém sempre um nível de qualidade muito consistente.

Nesta obra, apresenta-nos cinco histórias de experiências pessoais marcantes, vividas por diferentes pessoas, que nos enriquecem enquanto leitores.

Apreciei todas. A do músico no lar de idosos foi a que me cativou menos — apesar de alguns momentos emotivos, senti que Toulmé teve aqui mais dificuldade em transmitir plenamente a profundidade da experiência.

As restantes, adorei. Em especial a do homem homossexual, que me deixou bastante triste devido ao percurso de vida que teve de enfrentar, e também a da mulher presa numa relação extremamente tóxica, da qual demorou muito tempo a conseguir libertar-se.

Temos ainda a experiência de uma mulher que fica soterrada na neve e a de um soldado ucraniano, talvez a história mais longa do livro, que nos oferece um excelente retrato da realidade vivida por aquele povo. Gostaria imenso de ver uma obra de Toulmé dedicada apenas a este tema — seria extraordinário.

No geral, uma leitura simplesmente imperdível.

In this book, he presents five stories of powerful personal experiences, each lived by different people, enriching us as readers.

I enjoyed them all. The story about the musician in the retirement home was the one that captivated me the least — despite some emotional moments, I felt that Toulmé had more difficulty fully conveying the depth of that experience.

The others, I loved. Especially the one about the homosexual man, which left me genuinely saddened by the life journey he had to endure, and the one about the woman trapped in an extremely toxic relationship from which it took her a long time to break free.

There is also the experience of a woman buried under snow, and that of a Ukrainian soldier — perhaps the longest story in the book — which gives us an excellent insight into the reality faced by those people. I would love to see a full work by Toulmé dedicated solely to this topic — it would be outstanding.

Overall, a truly unmissable read.
