🇵🇹 Que obra absolutamente avassaladora!

Este ano já tinha lido “Você Não Me Conhece”, de Guilherme de Sousa, que aborda o mesmo tema a partir de um ângulo diferente. Recomendo vivamente ambas as obras. Enquanto Guilherme se centra sobretudo nas suas experiências pessoais com outras pessoas durante a Pandemia, aqui Luís Gonçalves dirige a crítica às instituições — embora ambos integrem também as suas vivências pessoais a lidar com a doença.

O traço de Felipe Parucci confere à obra uma aura crua e intensa que acentua a tensão da narrativa, chegando a endurecer ainda mais nos momentos mais duros dos acontecimentos.

A experiência de Luís é profundamente triste, mas reflete a realidade de muitos médicos e profissionais de saúde que lutaram na linha da frente da Pandemia, arriscando a própria vida, para, no final, não serem devidamente valorizados pelas instituições que os representam — e, por vezes, nem sequer pelas pessoas que procuravam salvar.

E pensar que ainda há quem reduza a COVID a uma simples “gripezinha”… É devastador refletir nisso enquanto acompanhamos a luta desesperada destes profissionais durante os meses mais intensos da crise.

Uma obra de verdadeiro serviço público e de leitura obrigatória!

🇬🇧 What an absolutely overwhelming work!

Earlier this year I read You Don’t Know Me, by Guilherme de Sousa, which tackles the same topic from a different angle. I strongly recommend both works. While Guilherme focuses mainly on his personal experiences with others during the pandemic, here Luís Gonçalves directs his critique towards the institutions — although both also include their personal experiences dealing with the disease.

Felipe Parucci’s artwork gives the book a raw, intense aura that heightens the narrative’s tension, even hardening further during the most difficult moments of the story.

Luís’s experience is profoundly sad, yet it reflects the reality of many doctors and healthcare professionals who fought on the front lines of the pandemic, risking their lives only to end up undervalued by the very institutions meant to represent them — and, at times, even by the people they were trying to save.

And to think there are still those who believe COVID was just “a little flu”… It’s heartbreaking to consider this while witnessing the desperate struggle of these professionals during the most intense months of the crisis.

A work of true public service and an essential read!
