💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Ao folhear este livro, as páginas pareceram-me estranhamente familiares — tinha a sensação de já ter visto algo idêntico em alguma antologia que lera no passado. E, de facto, confirmou-se: depois de terminar a leitura, percebi que este volume reúne várias histórias deste universo que foram sendo publicadas ao longo de muitos anos em fanzines e antologias.

A arte de Ricardo Cabral destaca-se de imediato. É impressionante, muito própria e reconhecível. Um dos capítulos é a cores e, aí, é curioso ver como a arte se transforma radicalmente: ganha profundidade, mas perde algum detalhe.

Quanto à narrativa, achei-a bastante confusa e difícil de acompanhar. Creio que teria beneficiado de uma narração adicional que explicasse melhor as diferentes fases da história, mesmo que isso implicasse alterar os trabalhos originais. Só após ler o texto final percebi melhor a razão de a narrativa ser tão fragmentada.

É uma pena, porque a arte de Ricardo Cabral é verdadeiramente fenomenal.

🇬🇧 As I leafed through this book, the pages felt strangely familiar — I had the impression I had seen something similar in an anthology I’d read in the past. And indeed, it was confirmed: after finishing it, I realised that this volume brings together several stories from this universe that had been published over many years in fanzines and anthologies.

Ricardo Cabral’s art stands out immediately. It’s impressive, very distinctive and recognisable. One of the chapters is in colour and, there, it’s interesting to see how the artwork changes so radically: it gains depth but loses some detail.

As for the narrative, I found it quite confusing and difficult to follow. I think it would have benefited from additional narration to better explain the different phases of the story, even if that meant altering the original works. Only after reading the final text did I better understand why the narrative feels so fragmented.

It’s a pity, because Ricardo Cabral’s artwork is truly phenomenal.
