💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Gostei muito do trabalho desta autora na sua outra obra, Mau Género, e continuo a apreciar o que ela faz aqui do ponto de vista técnico.

No entanto, a história em si não me cativou. Acompanhamos a vida de Marcel Proust, um escritor com várias excentricidades e problemas de saúde que o tornam uma pessoa difícil de lidar. Pelo caminho, ele conhece Céleste Albaret — uma mulher inicialmente retratada como alguém sem grandes aptidões, mas que acaba por se tornar um pilar essencial na sua vida. Entre ambos forma-se um laço de camaradagem que perdura até ao fim dos dias do escritor. Tudo isto é baseado em factos reais.

Como referi, não foi uma história que me tivesse prendido, embora no final tenha apreciado conhecer melhor a vida destas figuras que desconhecia por completo.

🇬🇧 I really enjoyed this author’s work in her other book, Mau Genre, and I continue to appreciate what she does here from a technical standpoint.

However, the story itself didn’t captivate me. It follows the life of Marcel Proust, a writer with several eccentricities and health issues that make him a difficult person to deal with. Along the way, he meets Céleste Albaret — a woman initially portrayed as someone without much skill, but who ends up becoming a fundamental pillar in his life. The two develop a bond of companionship that lasts until the writer’s final days. All of this is based on real events.

As I mentioned, it wasn’t a story that truly drew me in, although I did enjoy learning more about the lives of these figures, whom I previously knew nothing about.
