💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Mesmo estando habituado a ler em português do Brasil, confesso que tive alguma dificuldade em certas passagens devido ao forte regionalismo presente na escrita. Ainda assim, isso não me prejudicou a leitura, embora imagine que possa ser um obstáculo para algumas pessoas.

Não costumo sentir ódio por personagens de histórias — nem mesmo pelos piores vilões —, mas aqui a Jaqueline conseguiu a rara proeza de me irritar profundamente. Nunca encontrei uma personagem tão asquerosa, e deixa-me espantado a paciência quase sobrenatural que a sua mãe, a protagonista da narrativa, demonstra perante ela.

Não é uma história de final feliz ou triste: é apenas um final real, que podia muito bem ser a vida de alguém no Brasil.

Adorei ser espectador da vida dura da Márcia, que no fundo espelha a realidade de tantas pessoas.

🇬🇧 Even though I’m used to reading in Brazilian Portuguese, I must admit I still struggled with certain passages due to the strong regionalism in the writing. That said, it didn’t hurt my overall experience, though I imagine it might be an obstacle for some readers.

I’m not usually one to hate characters in stories — not even the worst villains — but here Jaqueline managed that rare feat of truly irritating me. I’ve never come across such a repulsive character, and it blows my mind how the main protagonist, her mother, has such almost supernatural patience with her.

This isn’t a story with a happy or sad ending: it’s simply a real one, the kind of narrative that could easily be someone’s actual life in Brazil.

I loved being a witness to Márcia’s harsh life, which ultimately reflects the reality of so many people.
