🇵🇹 Este é daqueles livros que, mesmo antes de o começar, já me inspirava um bom pressentimento — e não desiludiu. Aliás, acabou por superar todas as expectativas e ser ainda melhor do que imaginava.

No essencial, trata-se de um livro sobre o amor — nas suas muitas formas. O amor tempestuoso de um casal com muitos anos de história, o amor de mãe que, por vezes, pode ser cruel na sua intensidade, o amor leviano de um sedutor, o amor puro e inocente de quem sente tudo pela primeira vez, o amor eterno de quem vê a sua alma gémea partir… Há aqui um pouco de tudo.

É também um livro cheio de boas lições e diferentes perspetivas sobre o tema. Tocou-me várias vezes, apanhou-me desprevenido e derrubou algumas das minhas defesas emocionais. Tem passagens duras, momentos de grande tristeza e situações que até revoltam — mas é um livro que mexe, sobretudo com quem já amou, já perdeu, ou viu outros perderem-se no amor.

Porque amar vale sempre a pena — mesmo quando dói.

🇬🇧 This is one of those books I had a good feeling about even before I started reading it — and it didn’t disappoint. In fact, it exceeded all my expectations and turned out to be even better than I had imagined.

At its core, this is a book about love — in all its many forms. The stormy love of a couple who have been together for years, the love of a mother that can sometimes be cruel in its intensity, the shallow love of a womaniser, the pure and innocent love of someone falling for the first time, the eternal love of someone watching their soulmate slip away… It’s all here.

It’s also a book filled with valuable insights and different perspectives on the subject. It caught me off guard more than once and broke through my emotional defences. There are harsh passages, deeply sad moments, and even some that are a bit infuriating — but it’s a story that resonates, especially with those who have loved, lost, or seen others get lost in love.

Because love is always worth it — even when it hurts.
