🇵🇹 Luís Louro está de volta com mais um álbum!

Desde os primeiros teasers que percebi que este novo trabalho ia ser algo especial — e marcadamente diferente do registo habitual do autor.

Não venham ler este álbum à espera de um “O Corvo”. Aqui, o tom é outro: mais sombrio, mais sério, e sem o humor a que Luís Louro nos habituou — bem — não totalmente. A história mergulha num universo onde crianças e guerra se cruzam, remetendo inevitavelmente para “O Deus das Moscas” — é impossível não fazer essa associação à medida que avançamos na narrativa.

Apesar do peso temático, a obra mantém uma certa leveza, muito graças ao traço inconfundível de Luís, que continua a transmitir uma energia algo jovial, mesmo num contexto mais duro. Este contraste pode ser visto como uma faca de dois gumes: por um lado, suaviza o impacto da narrativa, tornando-a mais acessível; por outro, pode atenuar a força emocional de certos momentos que, de outra forma, nos deixariam completamente arrasados.

Visualmente, Luís Louro está num ponto altíssimo da sua carreira. A direção artística é impressionante, especialmente no uso das cores e efeitos de luz, sempre sem perder o estilo gráfico que o tornou tão reconhecido e acarinhado.

Em suma, uma obra corajosa — por se afastar da sua zona de conforto — e tecnicamente impressionante, que demonstra como o autor continua a evoluir e a desafiar-se a si próprio.

Quando cheguei à última página, fiquei apenas com pena de não ter mais para ler.

🇬🇧 Luís Louro is back with another album!

From the very first teasers, I had a feeling this new work was going to be something special — and distinctly different from the author’s usual style.

Don’t go into this album expecting another “O Corvo”. The tone here is something else entirely: darker, more serious, and without the humour we’ve come to associate with Luís Louro — well, not entirely. The story dives into a world where children and war collide, inevitably bringing “Lord of the Flies” to mind — it’s hard not to make that connection as the narrative unfolds.

Despite its heavy themes, the book retains a certain lightness, largely thanks to Luís’s unmistakable artwork, which still conveys a youthful energy even in a harsher context. This contrast can be a double-edged sword: on one hand, it softens the narrative’s impact and makes it more accessible; on the other, it can lessen the emotional weight of certain moments that might otherwise leave us completely stunned.

Visually, Luís Louro is at the height of his powers. The artistic direction is outstanding, especially in the use of colour and lighting effects, all while staying true to the graphic style that made him so beloved and recognisable.

In short, this is a bold and technically impressive work — one that steps out of the author’s comfort zone and proves he’s still evolving and challenging himself.

When I reached the final page, my only regret was that there wasn’t more to read.
