🇵🇹 A nossa sociedade foi construída sobre o esforço de milhares de homens e mulheres que procuraram criar um mundo mais justo e digno para todos. Elizabeth Cochrane, aqui mais conhecida como Nellie Bly, é, sem dúvida, uma dessas pessoas.

Nesta história, a protagonista recorda-nos a importância do escrutínio público e de viver numa sociedade aberta e transparente, onde os jornalistas desempenham um papel essencial na fiscalização dos mais poderosos. A sociedade em que Nellie viveu estava mergulhada na escuridão, permitindo que aqueles no poder agissem sem restrições ou consequências. As vítimas, neste caso, eram mulheres internadas num hospício, muitas delas sem qualquer problema mental, silenciadas por um sistema que as deveria proteger.

Uma obra de enorme relevância, que nos faz revisitar o passado e reflete sobre os horrores que podem ocorrer quando a escuridão impera.

The society in which Nellie lived was shrouded in darkness, allowing those in power to act without restraint or consequences. The victims, in this case, were women confined to an asylum, many of them without any mental illness, silenced by a system that should have protected them.

A work of great significance, prompting us to revisit the past and reflect on the horrors that can unfold when darkness prevails.
