💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Uma leitura de difícil avaliação, sendo, sem dúvida, o trabalho mais ambicioso de André Diniz.

Apesar de nunca ter lido a obra original, conheço diversas análises sobre ela e, nesse sentido, sinto que esta adaptação fica aquém de transmitir a profundidade e o significado do texto de Dostoiévski. Uma tarefa hercúlea, sobretudo tendo em conta a escassez de diálogos e narrações presentes nesta versão.

Ainda assim, esquecendo por um momento que se trata de uma adaptação, a narrativa consegue absorver-nos por completo. Assim que comecei a ler, só consegui parar ao chegar ao fim, e, apesar da economia de diálogos, nunca fiquei com dúvidas sobre o que estava a acontecer.

Em suma, é uma obra que vale a pena ler e uma boa porta de entrada para “O Idiota”, ainda que não seja uma adaptação inteiramente conseguida.

🇬🇧 A difficult book to assess, undoubtedly André Diniz’s most ambitious work.

Although I have never read the original novel, I am familiar with various analyses of it, and in that sense, I feel that this adaptation falls short of conveying the depth and meaning of Dostoevsky’s text. A Herculean task, especially given the scarcity of dialogues and narration in this version.

Even so, putting aside the fact that this is an adaptation, the narrative manages to completely draw the reader in. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop until I reached the end, and despite the minimal dialogue, I never felt unsure about what was happening.

In short, it is a book worth reading and a good introduction to “The Idiot”, even if not an entirely successful adaptation.
