💭 My Thoughts:

🇬🇧 Before reading this book, I had only heard fantastic things about it, and I think that, perhaps because of that, my rating ended up falling victim to somewhat excessive hype.
Graphically and visually, this book is everything I had been told it would be. It is an absolutely unique and refreshing reading experience by today’s comics standards. That said, despite being very impressive, I wouldn’t necessarily call it innovative, as I’ve seen this particular approach to visual storytelling in other works — some of which, in my opinion, actually applied it even more effectively.
What disappointed me a little, however, was the story itself. I didn’t find it particularly remarkable, and in a work that, while not completely silent, relies very little on text, I felt that it leaves perhaps too much of the interpretation of what is happening in the reader’s hands.
It is a story about the creation of life — life that could represent the human race or some equivalent species — and its evolution, touching on conflict, the development of language, and various other stages of its existence.
Overall, it’s a good work, but I have to admit that, largely because of the hype surrounding it, I was expecting something much more spectacular.
