📚 Book Review: O Mercenário, Vol. 14 – O Último Dia
📖 Author(s): Vicente Segrelles
💭 My Thoughts:

🇬🇧 I have to admit that I was a little disappointed when I discovered that this volume didn’t contain a new Mercenary adventure in the traditional format, but instead presented a prose story accompanied by Vicente Segrelles’ illustrations.
After doing some research, I realised that this volume was not part of the original collection and was created specifically for this definitive reissue of the character. By that point, Segrelles had already retired from comics and had no interest in producing another traditional Mercenary story. At the same time, there was a desire to bring the character’s story to a conclusion, and this was ultimately the solution they found to do so.
For the most devoted fans of the Mercenary’s story and universe, this volume will certainly be a worthwhile addition. For fans who, like me, appreciate Segrelles’ extraordinary artwork above all else, however, it ends up being somewhat disappointing, as the element that makes this series so special is much more limited here.
Still, the collection wouldn’t truly feel complete without this volume. And for those looking for something closer to the traditional adventures, there is also a short story of a few pages that provides at least some satisfaction.
