📚 Book Review: Da Noite para o Dia
📖 Author(s): Sofia Neto
💭 My Thoughts:

🇬🇧 This book caught my attention from the very first moment I saw it, so I was eager to read it, especially since it was created by a Portuguese author who, despite having contributed to several projects, has yet to produce the work that truly puts her in the spotlight.
By the end of the book, I was left with mixed feelings.
Starting with the positives, the artwork and the visual storytelling are undoubtedly the highlights for me. I really enjoyed Sofia’s linework and use of colour. Visually, I have nothing to criticize; every page was a pleasure to look at.
The reading experience itself was also very smooth. It’s an engaging and accessible book, and I couldn’t put it down until I reached the end.
My main issue lies with the story. First of all, I don’t understand the lack of a synopsis or even a short introductory text. Fortunately, I had already read an online synopsis beforehand; otherwise, I think I would have struggled to find a narrative thread and understand what was happening during the opening pages.
Even after I understood the premise, I was still left wondering what the story was ultimately trying to say. The idea of a device that unpredictably alters people’s personalities, and which others can pay to use on unsuspecting victims, is certainly intriguing and open to multiple interpretations, some more symbolic than others. However, I was hoping for something more tangible or a stronger thematic payoff.
That said, I still enjoyed the book and believe Sofia did an excellent job on the visual side. In my opinion, it is the story itself that would have benefited from further development.
