🇵🇹 Para quem não sabe, como eu próprio não sabia, Arsène Lupin é uma espécie de “Sherlock Holmes francês”. Um anti-herói conhecido sobretudo pela sua extraordinária capacidade de se disfarçar e por ter como principais alvos pessoas ricas.

Aqui, temos uma história em que Arsène está prestes a abandonar a vida do crime por razões pessoais, mas, infelizmente, algo acontece que destrói esses planos — e Sherlock Holmes acaba por estar diretamente envolvido nas consequências desse acontecimento. É a partir daqui que nasce uma rivalidade que se prolongará até ao confronto final desta história.

Entretanto, Lupin decide investigar uma família cujo avô supostamente descobriu o segredo de transformar metais em ouro. Mas, como já seria de esperar nestes casos, as coisas nunca são exatamente aquilo que parecem.

Uma história policial bastante interessante, cheia de mistério, reviravoltas e subterfúgios. A capacidade de Lupin para se disfarçar acrescenta uma dimensão diferente a este tipo de histórias, algo que normalmente não encontramos noutras obras do género.

🇬🇧 For those who don’t know, as I didn’t, Arsène Lupin is essentially a kind of “French Sherlock Holmes”. An anti-hero best known for his extraordinary ability to disguise himself and for targeting wealthy people in particular.

Here, we have a story in which Arsène is about to leave his life of crime behind for personal reasons, but unfortunately, something happens that destroys those plans — with Sherlock Holmes directly involved in the aftermath of the event. From this point onwards, a rivalry begins that will continue all the way to the final confrontation of the story.

Meanwhile, Lupin sets out to investigate a family whose grandfather supposedly discovered the secret of turning metals into gold. But, as you might expect in these kinds of stories, things are never quite what they seem.

An interesting detective story, full of mystery, twists and deception. Lupin’s ability to disguise himself adds a different dimension to this type of story, something we don’t usually see in other works of the genre.
