🇵🇹 Esta é daquelas obras de que precisávamos sem sequer sabermos que precisávamos.

Depois do lançamento de dois volumes de “Shi”, Homs está de volta, desta vez a solo, com uma história que demonstra que não é apenas um excelente ilustrador, mas também um escritor e argumentista bastante sólido.

Aqui acompanhamos Coral, filha do misterioso Rabino Loew, considerado por muitos o melhor exorcista e especialista em demonologia ainda vivo, cujas raízes estão ligadas a algo bastante famoso, como iremos descobrir ao longo da história. Coral é uma jovem astuta e mantém uma ligação muito próxima com o Diabo, cuja natureza também será gradualmente revelada, assim como a relação entre os três.

Apesar de a história decorrer durante a ascensão de Hitler na Alemanha e as primeiras invasões alemãs, este contexto histórico acaba por ter pouca relevância para a narrativa. O verdadeiro foco está em Coral e na sua relação com o Diabo.

Gostei bastante da leitura. Ainda assim, fiquei com a sensação de que a narrativa acaba por prometer mais do que aquilo que efetivamente entrega. Não me incomodou particularmente, mas confesso que esperava que a presença dos Nazis tivesse um papel mais relevante na história, o que acaba por não acontecer.

As ilustrações de Homs, tal como em “Shi”, estão fabulosas e demonstram mais uma vez a enorme qualidade do seu trabalho.

After the release of two volumes of “Shi”, Homs is back, this time on his own, with a story that proves he is not only an excellent illustrator but also a remarkably solid writer and storyteller.

The story follows Coral, the daughter of the mysterious Rabbi Loew, considered by many to be the greatest living exorcist and expert in demonology, whose origins are connected to something rather famous, as we discover throughout the story. Coral is a clever young woman who has a very close connection to the Devil, the nature of which is gradually revealed, along with the relationship between the three of them.

Although the story takes place during Hitler’s rise to power in Germany and the first German invasions, this historical context ultimately plays a relatively minor role in the narrative. The real focus is Coral and her relationship with the Devil.

I really enjoyed reading it. That said, I did feel that the narrative promises more than it ultimately delivers. It didn’t bother me particularly, but I admit I was expecting the Nazis to play a more significant role in the story, which ultimately isn’t the case.

Homs’ artwork, much like in “Shi”, is fantastic and once again showcases the remarkable quality of his work.
