🇵🇹 Que obra tão interessante. Acho que nunca tive uma experiência de leitura como esta. Em teoria, esta não deveria ser uma obra que me deixasse tão agradado, mas a realidade é que deixou — e bastante. E, acima de tudo, deixou-me a pensar sobre o porquê.

Antes de mais, é uma leitura extremamente agradável, acompanhada pela arte fabulosa de Michele Medda. Linda, linda, linda. Uma arte que contribui imenso para nos envolver na história e nos transportar para aquele mundo.

A história, em si, é relativamente simples. Seguimos um oficial militar que é colocado na Fortaleza Bastiani, situada no Deserto dos Tártaros — dois conceitos fictícios. Inicialmente, o seu objetivo é permanecer lá o mínimo de tempo possível, já que a sua colocação foi uma decisão tomada contra a sua vontade. Mas, ao longo da obra, começa a apaixonar-se pelo local e acaba por ficar muito mais tempo do que inicialmente previa, envolvendo-se progressivamente nos vários acontecimentos que ocorrem na fortaleza.

E, no fundo, é precisamente isso que torna esta história tão fascinante: perceber o que leva alguém a deixar tanta coisa para trás e a dedicar a sua vida a uma fortaleza esquecida pelo mundo.

Claro que isto é apenas a premissa superficial. Existe muito mais aqui para descobrir e explorar.

No final, acabou por ser uma das leituras mais agradáveis e fascinantes que fiz este ano. Superou completamente todas as minhas expectativas.

🇬🇧 What an interesting work. I don’t think I’ve ever had a reading experience quite like this. In theory, this shouldn’t have been a book that I enjoyed this much, but the reality is that I did — very much so. And, more importantly, it left me thinking about why.

First of all, it’s an incredibly enjoyable read, accompanied by Michele Medda’s fabulous artwork. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. The art does an amazing job of drawing us into the story and immersing us in its world.

The story itself is relatively simple. We follow a military officer who is stationed at Bastiani Fortress, located in the Desert of the Tartars — both fictional concepts. At first, he wants to stay there for as little time as possible, since his posting was a decision made against his will. But as the story progresses, he gradually falls in love with the place and ends up staying far longer than he originally intended, becoming increasingly involved in the various events taking place at the fortress.

And, ultimately, that’s what makes the story so fascinating: understanding what drives someone to leave so much behind and devote their life to a fortress forgotten by the world.

Of course, this is only the surface-level premise. There is so much more here to discover and explore.

In the end, this turned out to be one of the most enjoyable and fascinating reads I’ve had this year. It completely exceeded all my expectations.
