💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Cada vez mais obras de banda desenhada nos trazem fragmentos de história menos conhecidos do grande público, e pessoalmente considero isso fantástico. Este é mais um desses exemplos.

Trata-se de uma obra bastante original — diria mesmo inovadora. Aqui, o protagonista é o quadro “Duas Mulheres Nuas”, pintado por Otto Mueller. Acompanhamos a sua história desde a criação, passando pela relação de Mueller com a sua musa, a sua morte, a ascensão do regime nazi na Alemanha, a perseguição aos judeus, o ataque a tudo o que era considerado “degenerado”, incluindo obras de arte, e o destino que muitas dessas peças tiveram, entre outros acontecimentos.

O que torna a obra verdadeiramente brilhante é o facto de tudo ser narrado através dos “olhos” do próprio quadro de Mueller. É ele o protagonista central, através do qual assistimos ao desenrolar de toda a narrativa.

Uma leitura muito agradável.

🇬🇧 Increasingly, comic books are bringing us fragments of lesser-known history to a wider audience, and personally I think that’s fantastic. This is another such example.

This is a highly original work — I would even say innovative. Here, the protagonist is the painting “Two Nude Women” by Otto Mueller. We follow its story from its creation, through Mueller’s relationship with his muse, his death, the rise of the Nazis in Germany, the persecution of Jewish people, the attack on what was considered “degenerate art,” including artworks themselves, and the fate many of these pieces ultimately met, among other events.

What makes this absolutely brilliant is that it is told through the “eyes” of Mueller’s own painting. It is the central protagonist through which we witness the entire narrative unfolding.

A very enjoyable read.
