💭 My Thoughts:

🇵🇹 Este volume começa por revelar de imediato o desfecho trágico dos acontecimentos que ficaram em suspenso no volume anterior.

Desta vez, a narrativa centra-se no Coach Boss e no seu passado — uma clara tentativa do autor de gerar alguma empatia por aquela que é, inequivocamente, a principal figura antagonista da série. Pelo caminho, ficamos também a conhecer melhor o homem que sempre esteve ao seu lado e que contribuiu para a sua ascensão ao poder, tanto no condado como na equipa de futebol americano, paixão que ambos partilham.

Confesso que, apesar de perceber a intenção do autor, não consegui desenvolver grande empatia pela personagem. Trata-se de um homem profundamente repugnante, disposto a tudo para atingir os seus fins, e as dificuldades que enfrentou na juventude não são, de todo, justificativas para as suas ações — sobretudo tendo em conta o que aconteceu ao protagonista, cuja ausência se faz sentir de forma significativa neste volume.

Ainda assim, continua a ser uma série que me mantém genuinamente interessado.

🇬🇧 This volume opens by immediately revealing the tragic outcome of the events left unresolved in the previous installment.

This time, the narrative focuses on Coach Boss and his past—a clear attempt by the author to elicit some degree of empathy for what is unequivocally the series’ main antagonist. Along the way, we also learn more about the man who has always stood by his side and helped him rise to power, both within the county and in the American football team they are both passionate about.

I must admit that, although I understand what the author was trying to achieve, I struggled to feel much empathy for the character. He is a deeply repugnant man, willing to go to any lengths to achieve his goals, and the hardships he faced in his youth do not justify his actions—especially considering what happened to the main protagonist, whose absence is strongly felt throughout this volume.

Even so, this remains a series that continues to hold my interest.
